Have you had experiences like PowerToys on ChormeOS?

If you use Windows, you may have copied characters from images using the “PowerToys” Text Extractor function. There are probably apps with similar functionality for Mac.

I usually mainly use Windows 11, but I also use Ubuntu and Chrome OS.

This time, I will introduce image capture and character extraction on Chrome OS from among them.

Try keyboard shortcuts.

First, just like Windows

Windows + Shift + S

I tried pressing.

Then you will be prompted to try “Ctrl+Shift+Windows”.

However, it didn't respond at all in my environment.

A useful function discovered with the PRINT SCREEN key.

Somehow, when I pressed the basic PRINT SCREEN key, a surprising function appeared.

  • Copy the text and search on Google Capture and even a record button
  • is displayed at
  • the bottom of the screen.

This “copy text” function can extract characters at the same time as capture, similar to PowerToys' Text Extractor (Ctrl+T).

Furthermore, it is convenient to be able to do Google searches as is.

Actual capture examples

The image below was pasted by clicking the “Capture” button displayed in the center of the screen above.

I thought the PRINT  SCREEN key could only “capture full screen,” but it was unexpected that it had such a useful function.

By all means, I would like the official one to thoroughly introduce this method.
